The banking services you applied for are provided by Bank of China overseas branches, and BOCHK collects your data only for account opening usage. The account approval or the actual operation arrangement is subject to the overseas branches of the Bank of China.

1. Is it free to open an overseas account?

It is free to open a Bank of China overseas account through our attestation service. After opening an overseas account, you may need to maintain the "Total Relationship Balance" of the account or other account requirements. 2. What is the charge for overseas remittance?

When you use your BOCHK account to transfer money to your overseas Bank of China account under the same name through electronic channels, the remittance fee charged by BOCHK can be exempted. 3. The time required to open a Bank of China overseas account?

After we receive your application for opening a Bank of China overseas account, and review that all the application documents are complete and meet the local account opening requirements, we will assist you to transfer the application to an overseas branch of Bank of China. Generally, the accounting opening procedure will take about 10 working days subject to the submission of all required valid documents. Please ensure that your personal information and contact information are correct when filling out the application form. If you need to update the submitted information afterward, it will take more time to process your application.

4. Can I open a Bank of China overseas account?

You must be over the age of 18* and are accountholders of the Enrich Service Tier or above. You need to have a reasonable purpose for overseas account opening before you apply. In addition, it is necessary to meet the eligibility of the attestation bank as required. Please contact our bank staff for more details.

*For the overseas account opening in Canada or Australia, you need to be over the age of 16 to meet the age requirement.

Bank of China (Hong Kong) only verifies the identity of the customer on behalf of the overseas branch of the Bank of China and signs the account opening documents for the customer. However, it does not mean that the account opening procedure has been completed. The account opening application is processed and will be approved by the attesting branch of the Bank of China.
