A.       Registration and use of the BOC Pay (¡§BOC Pay¡¨/ ¡§ this App¡¨)

1.         What service could I enjoy on BOC Pay?

BOC Pay is a mobile application developed by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (¡§the Bank¡¨ or ¡§BOCHK¡¨), supporting BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card cardholders to make payment with smartphones both locally and worldwide. After downloading the BOC Pay and adding a BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card, customers can make payment smoothly at UnionPay QR code merchant worldwide without the need of holding any cash or physical credit card. Comparing to cash, physical credit cards or other traditional payment means, this App service is relatively simpler and can enhance customer experience.

2.         How do I register for BOC Pay and add BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card?

           i.                Download and open BOC Pay;

         ii.                Follow the instructions shown on the screen and fill in related information of the BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card that you would like to add to BOC Pay;

      iii.                Read and accept the terms and conditions;

      iv.                Verify the cardholder¡¦s identity by using the SMS One-Time Password issued by credit card company;

         v.                Complete the registration and add your BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card by setting and confirming your payment passcode.

3.         Does BOC Pay require an internet connection for payment?

Yes, internet connection is required for making payment via this App.

4.         How do I use BOC Pay?

           i.                For payment, you could open this App, tap ¡§QR Code¡¨ or ¡§Scan¡¨ option according to the situation, and authenticate the payment by inputting your payment passcode. After all these steps, you can make payment in UnionPay QR code merchants worldwide that either have point-of-sale terminals or have presented a QR code. A swift and simple transaction can be made without the need of signature;

         ii.                For cards management, you can browse and search all the credit cards added to this App through ¡§Cards¡¨ at the bottom function bar;

      iii.                For transaction history, you can search the transaction records through ¡§Transactions¡¨ at the bottom function bar.

5.         What is ¡§QR Code¡¨ payment mode?

¡§QR Code¡¨ payment mode means using your QR Code generated through the BOC Pay, and getting the QR Code scanned by merchants to complete the transaction following the steps below:

           i.                In the BOC Pay home page, tap ¡§QR Code¡¨ function to generate your QR Code after inputting your payment passcode;

         ii.                Display your QR Code to the merchant for cashier to scan;

      iii.                Transaction completes after successful scanning.

6.         What is ¡§Scan¡¨ payment mode?

The payment mode offers you to scan the merchant¡¦s QR code to complete transaction through the BOC Pay with the steps below:

           i.                In the BOC Pay home page, tap ¡§Scan¡¨ function;

         ii.                Your phone¡¦s camera will be turned on, and you could scan the QR Code presented by merchant;

      iii.                After scanning successfully, the BOC Pay may automatically display the merchant¡¦s name and transaction amount. If this App does not display any transaction amount, this App will remind you to input transaction amount. After confirmation, you are required to authenticate by payment passcode. Transaction completes after successful authentication.

7.         After I have registered for the BOC Pay and added my first credit card, how do I add a new credit card to or remove my credit cards from the BOC Pay?

To add your credit cards, you could first select ¡§Cards¡¨ at the bottom function bar to enter into ¡§Cards Management¡¨ module. Then, tap ¡§+¡¨ at the top right hand corner to start the add new credit cards¡¦ procedures.

To remove your credit cards, you could first select ¡§Cards¡¨ at the bottom function bar to enter into ¡§Cards Management¡¨ module, select the credit cards that you would like to remove, tap ¡§¡K¡¨ at the top right hand corner, select ¡§delete card¡¨. Cards are removed after successful authentication by payment passcode.

Alternatively, you could contact BOC Card Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2853 8828 to remove your credit cards from this App.

 

Please note that if your added credit cards have become invalid (e.g. due to renewal or re-issuance), the invalid credit cards will be automatically removed.

8.         How do I check my recent transaction records on QR code payment?

To check your transaction records, you could open this App and then select ¡§Transactions¡¨ at the bottom function bar.

The transaction records on QR code payment will be recorded on your credit card monthly statement. Also, you can search for the related QR code payment transaction record on BOCHK Internet Banking or BOCHK Mobile Banking.

9.         Who is eligible for registering QR Code payment service on BOC Pay?

At this stage, only BOC UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card Cardholders (both the main card or/ and the additional card) can register the service.

10.    BOC Pay is compatible with which version and models of smartphones?

This App supports all the iOS models (8.0 version or above) and Android models (6.0 version or above).

11.    Any transaction limit for the QR code payment service?

For ¡§QR Code¡¨ payment mode (¡§customer presented¡¨) *, payment per transaction is limited to a maximum of HK$50,000.

For ¡§Scan¡¨ payment mode (¡§merchant presented¡¨)*, payment per transaction is limited to a maximum of HK$1,000 and the monthly aggregate amount is limited to a maximum of HK$10,000 (based on the statement date posted in the credit card statement).

The above transaction limit for QR code payment service is subject to the credit limit of your added credit card.

*The payment transaction under both payment modes is also subject to local applicable laws, regulations and regulatory requirements.

12.    Will I be charged any fee for QR code payment transaction?

No additional charges will be imposed at this stage for BOC Pay service. For details on credit card handling fees, please refer to the "BOC CUP Dual Currency Credit Card Fees Schedule".

13.    Will I earn gift points when I use QR code payment service?

Yes, you can earn gift points upon spending with QR code payment in this App. Please refer to Instant Rewards Terms and Conditions for details.

14.    Can I still use BOC Pay if I have changed my smartphone?

Yes, you can still use this App after you have changed your smartphone. To continue enjoy our service, you could first download this App in your new smartphone, and log in according to the procedures instructed (fill in the valid mobile phone number recorded with BOC Credit Card (International) Limited, authenticate by SMS OTP and enter your payment passcode).

After login to your new smartphone, the Bank will suspend your BOC Pay service in your old smartphone.

15.    How do I identify the merchants that support this App for QR code payment?

You can use our BOC Pay for QR code payment in UnionPay QR code merchants worldwide. Our BOC Pay service will be accepted in merchants with ¡§UnionPay QR code¡¨ stickers, equipped with smart devices that can display UnionPay QR code or equipped with payment reader with ¡§UnionPay QR code¡¨ symbols.

16.    How do I terminate the BOC Pay service?

To terminate your BOC Pay service, you could log in to this App and tap ¡§Cards¡¨ at the bottom function bar, and then remove all the added credit cards. Alternatively, you could contact BOC Card Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2853 8828 for card removal and service termination. You may then remove this App from your smartphone by uninstalling it.

17.    What should I do if I forgot my payment passcode?

If you forgot your payment passcode, you could follow the below steps to reset the payment passcode:

         i.               If you are on the login page, go to ¡§Settings¡¨ at the bottom function bar, and then select ¡§Payment Setting¡¨ and choose ¡§Forgot Payment Passcode¡¨. If you are on the payment page, you could directly select ¡§Forgot Payment Passcode¡¨;

       ii.               Follow the instructions shown on the screen and fill in related credit card information;

    iii.               Read and accept the terms and conditions;

    iv.               Verify the cardholder¡¦s identity by using the SMS One-Time Password issued by credit card company;

       v.               Complete the re-set by setting and confirming your payment passcode.

18.    What should I do if I have changed my mobile phone number registered with my credit card?

If you have changed your mobile phone number registered with your credit card, you can still make QR code payment through this App until you logged out.

After logging out, if you want to use the QR code payment service again through this App, you will have to use your new registered mobile phone number to register this App and the QR code payment service again (Please refer to FAQ A2 for registration procedures).

Your new registered mobile phone number will then be used to receive SMS One-Time Password.

 

B.     Security Information

1.     Is BOC Pay service secure?

Transaction security and account security are prime concerns of BOCHK, our Bank will have comprehensive measures to protect our customers. Measures include but are not limited to:

           i.                BOC Pay service can only be used after login; therefore, this App is monitored under the Bank¡¦s mobile application controls;

         ii.                You could process your payment only after payment passcode authentication;

      iii.                The QR code generated under the ¡§QR Code¡¨ function will only be valid for 60 seconds.

      iv.                You will have transaction notifications through different channels and the notification preferences would be based on the current credit card notification rules and practices.

2.     How could I ensure the security of BOC Pay?

       i.                Your QR Code shall only be used when paying UnionPay QR code merchants. Please do not disclose or send any information of your QR code in any occasion or to anyone.

     ii.                If you use ¡§Scan¡¨ payment mode, please check the merchant name and payment amount carefully. If there is any doubt, please DO NOT complete the transaction.

  iii.                You shall take all reasonable steps to keep your personal information and credit account information safe and secure.

  iv.                Please do not disclose your mobile phone number in our Bank¡¦s record, payment passcode, or other BOC Pay service-related information to anyone or any company or any third party.

     v.                You are recommended to set up firewall and install anti-virus software or mobile security applications in your mobile device and update them regularly. In this connection, you can visit HKCERT website for reference: https://www.hkcert.org/mobile-security-tools.

  vi.                To protect your online transactions, we will check whether your mobile device is jailbroken or rooted and with recommended operating systems for minimum security requirements upon using this App. You may not be allowed to access this App via such device. Please pay attention to this reminder.

vii.                Please download and install the latest version of this App, other applications, operating systems and browsers regularly in the official App stores (Google Play and App Store) or our website. Do not install this App from mistrusted sources. If there is any mobile application of a suspicious nature, please do not download, login and should stop operation immediately.

3.     What should I do if there are suspicious transactions in this App?

If you discover any suspicious credit card transactions, you shall immediately call BOC Card Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2853 8828 and contact our Customer Service.

4.     What should I do if I lost my smartphone?

You shall immediately call BOC Card Customer Service Hotline at (852) 2853 8828. Our Customer Service will help you to remove all the credit cards in this App and terminate the service.

5.     Should I change my payment passcode regularly?

Yes, you should. For security reasons, our Bank advises you to change payment passcode regularly.

6.     Can I download BOC Pay on my smartphone if my smartphone has been jailbroken/ rooted/ installed pirated software?

Under no circumstances should you download this App on a smartphone that has been jailbroken, rooted or installed pirated software.
