BOCHK Hackathon 2019 (“Competition”) Terms and Conditions

  • Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK" or "Organizer") may transfer personal information collected from the Competition to BOCHK internal units and event support organizations for competition purposes. The personal data provided on the competition application form will be kept confidential and will not be used by BOCHK to update the records of the participants in BOCHK’s client database.
  • The information submitted by the participant must be true and accurate. The submitted proposal and presentation materials must be original and will not infringe any rights (including intellectual property rights) of any third party, and will not include any contents that are illegal, fraudulent, violent, insulting, obscene, rude, disgusting, offensive, racially discriminatory, or otherwise objectionable or unreasonable, or intimidating or defamatory against any person or institution. In case of violation of the above, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the participant's entry or award qualification. If the submitted materials contravene the law, all legal liabilities and losses arising therefrom will be borne by the participant. The Organizer will not be responsible for such liabilities or losses.
  • Participants are required to show valid identification document or student ID card for verification when needed. The information of the identification document entered on the competition application form must be the same as the valid identification document. Otherwise, the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the participant's entry or award qualification.
  • Each participant can register for the Competition once only, otherwise the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the participant's entry or award qualification.
  • The Organizer will take photos and videos during the workshop as well as the Competition for marketing or reporting purposes. By signing up for the Competition, the participant agrees to authorize the Organizer and its authorized representatives to use the participant’s team information, photos, sounds and/or other similar modes for publication.
  • By signing up for the Competition, the participant agrees to authorize the Organizer to collect, use, edit, translate, copy, publish or display all or part of the submitted competition proposal.
  • Each participating team and individual is solely responsible for the equipment and personal belongings it/he/she carries. If the participant's equipment and/or personal belongings are stolen, lost or damaged, the Organizer will not be responsible for it.
  • The Organizer has the right to cancel, delay or shorten the Competition for the following reasons:
    • A) Bad weather;
    • B) Protest or demonstration activities that cause the venue to be closed or blocked; or
    • C) Force majeure, which means the occurrence of any event beyond the control of the Organizer and making it impossible, unsafe or impractical to hold the Competition.
  • Participants must abide by these Terms and Conditions. If the participant conducts any fraudulent act in the Competition (as determined by the Organizer), the Organizer reserves the right to cancel the participant's entry or award qualification, and reserves the right to take legal action to recover from the participant any award improperly obtained due to fraud.
  • If the Organizer reasonably believes that any participant uses or instructs others to use any method (including but not limited to improper or fraudulent acts) to interfere with the operation of the Competition and cause interference, technical issue or failure to any part of the Competition, or endanger, damage or affect the holding, accuracy, fairness or smooth running of the Competition, the Organizer reserves the right to terminate the qualification of the participant. The Organizer further reserves the right to pursue the participant for any loss or damages incurred.
  • The Organizer reserves the right to suspend or cancel the above Competition at any time and to amend these Terms and Conditions without notice.
  • Employees of Bank of China (Hong Kong) and its subsidiaries, as well as other supporting organizations of the competition, are not allowed to participate in the competition and have no right to win any prizes.
  • These Terms and Conditions are governed by Hong Kong law.
  • In case of any dispute, the decision of the Organizer shall be final.
  • In the event of any discrepancy between the English and Chinese versions of these Terms and Conditions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
