Open Banking facilitates banks to share their product information and open up the product application systems via Application programming interface (API). By utilizing the Open APIs provided, third-party service providers (TSPs) are able to establish applications that create enhanced banking experience for customers.

The HKMA launched the "Interbank Account Data Sharing (IADS)" program in October 2022. This program has established the rules and standards facilitating interbank customer-consented data sharing. This allows customers to securely and efficiently share their bank account data from one participating bank (Data Providing Bank) to other participating banks (Data Consuming Bank), subject to customer consent. Account data sharing could help digitalize banking operations, strengthen risk management of banks, and enhance customer experience.

As a data provider, BOCHK would share the customer’s Currents / Savings account information with the bank via OPEN API after receiving customer’s consent.

As a data consumer, customers can authorize BOCHK to obtain current account or current savings account information from the bank of their choice. 

- For personal customer, as long as you create authorization, you can instantly view and manage savings and current account information of multiple banks, including account balances and transaction records, helping you to have a more comprehensive grasp of your personal financial status. Try it now: Log in to BOCHK Mobile Banking > "Menu" > "Account" > "Consolidated Account View"

- Corporate customers can authorise the Bank to obtain their bank account data from Data Providing Bank through BOCHK Corporate Internet Banking iGTB NET. When applying for a loan, corporate customers can experience the simplified loan application process by skipping monthly bank statement supporting documents submission, to meet their financing needs and support business development. BOCHK corporate customers who hold iGTB NET account is applicable for the above service.
