1. What are the features of the "Chip-based BOC Card" and its difference with the current BOC Card?
The security level of the new "Chip-based BOC Card" is further enhanced with the newly added chip. The new Card provides customers with more secured and reliable banking services.
2. Can the "Chip-based BOC Card" be used at the existing ATMs? Can I make purchases with the new Card at merchant outlets?
Yes. The existing ATMs (including those ATMs which have not adopted the "chip-based technology") support the "Chip-based BOC Card". Besides, you can make purchases with the "Chip-based BOC Card" at merchant outlets marked with logo or logo.
3. How will I be affected as the "Chip-based BOC Card" cannot be used at the network?
Although the "Chip-based BOC Card" is not applicable to the network, you can still use the ATMs displaying the , or logo in Hong Kong, China and overseas with the Card. The service charge of cash withdrawal via the network is as low as HKD15 / RMB15 per transaction, it saves your cost as comparing to the service fee of network (HKD 25 per cash withdrawal transaction). Moreover, you can make purchases with the new Card by directly debiting your bank account at merchant outlets showing the logo in Hong Kong, and over 1,900,000 merchant outlets marked with the logo globally.
4. Will there be any increase on the card annual fee after card replacement?
The annual fee of the "Chip-based BOC Card" will be the same as the existing BOC Card.
5. Do I need to set up a new PIN and register for PPS Service again for the "Chip-based BOC Card"?
Your existing PIN, accounts linked in card (if any), daily cash withdrawal limit and bills registered for PPS Service (if any) remain unchanged. The new Card is ready for use upon receipt.
6. When will I receive the new "Chip-based BOC Card"?
The "Chip-based BOC Card" will be sent to customers by post in phases from the 4th quarter of 2013.
7. Can I keep using the current BOC Card after activating the new "Chip-based BOC Card"?
Once the new "Chip-based BOC Card" is activated or 30 days after a new Card is issued (whichever is earlier), the current BOC Card will be ceased to be valid. Please destroy the current card after the new Card is activated.
8. I have already submitted a request to add or remove a deposit account(s) / change the ATM display language at your branch. Why can’t I see such change(s) on the ATM screen?
After you make such request at any of our branches, you can update the account changes or ATM language with the "Chip-based BOC Card" via a chip-based ATM with logo on the next working day. Such process is the same as existing practice.
9. How to identify an ATM which has adopted the chip-based ATM technology?
ATMs which have adopted the chip-based ATM technology will display the icon.
10. What is the difference between the "Chip-based Fast Cash Card" and the current "Fast Cash Card" ?
The "Chip-based Fast Cash Card" with a new card face designwill replace the current Fast Cash Card" .
With the new card, you can settle payment at merchants displaying thelogo in Hong Kong or thelogo globally. Cash withdrawal service at ATMs marked withorlogo in and outside Hong Kong are also available with the new "Chip-based Fast Cash Card". All other features will remain the same as your existing "Fast Cash Card".
11. What is the difference between the new "Chip-based BOC Card" and the current "BOC Card (RMB)" ?
If you are currently holding a"BOC Card (RMB)", a new "chip-based BOC Card"will be issued to you for replacement. The "chip-based BOC Card" can link up to HKD or RMB accounts for dual currency settlement. You can also settle payment at merchants displaying thelogo in Hong Kong.
