FAQ

Q:
Do I have to pay to join the competition?
A:
We will not charge participants for joining the competition, but the participants should bear the additional costs incurred during the competition (such as transportation fees, or purchase of computer equipment or applications).

Q:
Do I have to be a resident of HKSAR to participate in the competition?
A:
The competition is open to all participants, including HKSAR residents and non-HKSAR residents.

Q:
Do you have any age requirements on participants?
A:
There is no age requirement, as long as the participant meets the condition of being a current full-time student from any university in Hong Kong or working professional from startup that have been registered in Hong Kong for no more than 10 years (as of the date of BOCHK Challenge finals).

Q:
Is there a limit on the size of the team?
A:
Each team can be consisted of 2 to 5 people.

Q:
Can participants register for the competition individually?
A:
No, participants must form teams of 2 to 5 people on their own.

Q:
Can students from different universities form a team?
A:
Yes, participants from different universities are free to form groups and join the competition.

Q:
Can students and working professionals form a team?
A:
As students and startups are divided into 2 streams in the competition, students and working professionals from startup cannot form a team together.

Q:
Can participants join the competition online?
A:
The competition is conducted in an in-person format, and participants are required to be physically present at the venue for relevant activities such as workshops and final pitching.

Q:
How many stages are there in the competition?
A:
The competition consisted of the preliminary and final round; participants are required to submit a proposal at the preliminary round, and will be informed of shortlisted teams in May. Finalists will have the opportunity to participate in a series of professional mentoring sessions on their business proposals and pitching techniques before showcasing their business ideas to our panel of judges on the finals day. The winner will be announced after all presentations conclude.

Q:
If I have submitted the wrong proposal/attachments, can I amend it?
A:
Alterations cannot be made to proposals once they have been submitted.

Q:
Can I add, delete or replace team members during the competition?
A:
You may add, delete or replace your team member, but you have to inform us at least 7 working days before the finals being held via email: bochkchallenge@bochk.com. On the finals, participants are required to show valid identification document or student ID card for verification.

Q:
Are employees of the event organiser allowed to join the competition?
A:
Employees of Bank of China (Hong Kong) and its subsidiaries, as well as other supporting organisations of the competition, are not allowed to participate in the competition and have no right to win any prizes.
