Monthly Stocks Savings Plan

"Monthly Stocks Savings Plan" is a flexible and convenient investment tool, enabling you to invest in a number of selected stocks with a monthly contribution amount of as low as HK$ / RMB 500. By leveraging on the advantage of "Dollar Cost Averaging", you can be freed from the short term volatility of the stock market while balancing overall investment effectiveness. In addition, you can earn credit card gift points by settling the contribution payment with BOC Credit Card.

Low Contribution Amount

According to your own preference, you can invest in selected stocks provided by BOCHK. The minimum monthly contribution is as low as HK$ / RMB500 (For each additional stock, any additional contribution may be made in integral multiples of HK$ / RMB500).

Preferential Transaction Fee

A maximum of 20 stocks can be selected in each plan. A transaction fee equivalent to 0.25% of the total monthly contribution amount is charged for each plan. And the minimum charge is HK$ / RMB50 per month (including brokerage fee, stamp duty, transaction levy and transaction charge). You can also enjoy waivers on safe custody and collection fees of shareholder entitlements (e.g. dividend) to save more.

Earning Credit Card Gift Points by Making Contribution via Credit Card

Monthly contribution can be made through autopay from your securities settlement account or BOC Credit Card. There is no upper limit on the contribution amount. In addition, you can earn the credit card gift points by settling the contribution payment with BOC Credit Card. The longer the period of consecutive contributions, the higher gift point conversion rate.

Note: The Gift Points are only applicable to customers who hold valid BOC Credit Cards issued in Hong Kong bearing BOCHK logo, but excludes BOC Credit Cards issued in the mainland and Macau, BOC Chill Card, BOC CEA Dual Currency Credit Cards, BOC Hong Kong Airlines Visa Cards, BOC Great Wall International Credit Cards, USD cards, BOC Purchasing Cards, Private Label Cards and participants of the Automated Cash Rebate Redemption. Earning Cash Rebate by Making Contribution via BOC Chill Card for Selected Customers (Promotion Period: 1 April to 31 December 2023)

Selected customers1 can earn cash rebate by settling the contribution payment of Monthly Stocks Savings Plan with BOC Chill Card during the entire promotion period.

Selling Odd Lot Stocks at Market Price with More Flexibility

You can sell any stocks maintained in the plan at market price (even if the number of shares is less than one lot) to enjoy a higher return. What's more, you can adjust the monthly contribution amount or the stock portfolio according to your investment needs without handling charges, grasping every investment opportunity with greater flexibility.

Balancing Overall Investment Effectiveness by Dollar Cost Averaging

The advantage of "Monthly Stocks Savings Plan" is based on the concept of "Dollar Cost Averaging". You can acquire more shares when the stock price goes down and less shares when the stock price goes up. With this long term investment strategy, you do not have to worry about short term market fluctuations, but with more balanced overall investment effectiveness.

Reminder: To borrow or not to borrow? Borrow only if you can repay!

Terms and conditions: 

  1. To set up a "Monthly Stocks Savings Plan", customers are required to hold a securities account. Customers can at most set up one "Monthly Stocks Savings Plan" with its contribution paid through securities settlement account and one "Monthly Stocks Savings Plan" with its contribution paid through BOC Credit Card for each securities account. The registration name of related securities settlement account or BOC Credit Card must be the same as that of securities account. We do not accept contribution by credit card payment for “Monthly Stocks Savings Plan” under a joint-name securities account.
  2. If the required contribution amount could not be debited by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (the "Bank") from the customer’s securities settlement account or BOC Credit Card for three consecutive months, the Bank will have the right to terminate the relevant plan immediately without prior notice.
  3. The maximum monthly contribution amount paid by BOC Credit Card is subject to the credit limit of the BOC Credit Card.
  4. Change in the number of stocks, monthly contribution amount or the use of another BOC Credit Card as the debit account will not affect the calculation of "Consecutive Contribution Period".
  5. Unless otherwise specified, the contribution day of the "Monthly Stocks Savings Plan" is on the tenth day of each month. If such day is not a stock trading day, contribution day will fall on the next stock trading day. If the contribution amount is paid by BOC Credit Card, the contribution amount will be debited 2 business days before the contribution day.
  6. Transaction day is within the next two trading days after the contribution day (or as soon as practicable thereafter).
  7. If the contribution amount is paid by securities settlement account, the plan(s) cannot be set up from the transaction day to two stock trading days after the transaction day. If the contribution amount is paid by BOC Credit Card, the plan(s) cannot be set up from the credit card contribution day to two stock trading days after the transaction day.
  8. A maximum of 20 stocks can be selected under the same plan.
  9. To adjust the contribution amount or the stock portfolio, the customer is required to place instruction through any branches, manned Investment Trading Hotline or Internet Banking of the Bank 3 business days before the next transaction day.
  10. The first successful contribution month, the number of consecutive contribution months and BOC Credit Card Gift Point conversion rate are determined in accordance with the Bank's records.
