Diversity & Equal Opportunities
As a people-oriented Bank, we emphasise the value of diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI), ensuring that people with different attributes are respected at work. As an equal opportunity employer, we have formulated the Staff Guideline on the Elimination of Discrimination to clearly communicate our equal opportunity policy to employees. We adhere to the principle of equal opportunity in all human resources policies.
Respecting the political, social and cultural contexts of the places where we operate, we support and uphold the human rights of our staff in line with international standards. Rigorous recruitment procedures are in place to avoid child and forced labour. We have also established a Supply Chain Code of Conduct that requires our suppliers to comply with relevant human rights and labour standards.
Talent Retention and Development
We have a comprehensive talent development and training framework to provide diverse development programmes for key talent groups including managerial, regional, digital, ESG, financial professional and young talent. Talent exchange programmes and other talent development initiatives are in place to expand the horizons and career development platform for employees.
We are committed to providing employees with long-term and sustainable professional development. We take into consideration individual characteristics, talent, succession arrangement to implement various targeted talent development measures. The “Innovative Leadership Development Project” aims to enhance management personnel’s ability to drive change and nurture a pool of talent with innovative leadership mindsets.
Our successful “Management Trainee Programme” attracts talented graduates from around the world with the potential to excel in the financial services industry. This training programme includes a diverse range of classroom training, on-the-job training, and departmental rotations. Trainees are also provided the opportunity to rotate through Southeast Asia and the Chinese mainland and participate in cross-departmental projects.
We actively engage in various youth development and employment programmes organised by the HKSAR Government, regulators and external organisations. These include the “Fintech Career Accelerator Scheme” (FCAS), “Apprenticeship Programme for Private Wealth Management" and “Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme”.
Employee Well-being, Health & Safety
We prioritise the health and safety of our staff and have established Occupational Health and Safety Guidelines to ensure the well-being of all employees. We offer annual physical check-ups, group medical insurance benefits and psychological counselling services to safeguard employees’ physical and mental health. In addition, through our healthcare room and Health Management Centre, we help employees manage their health and alleviate stress. This contributes to their overall physical and mental well-being, and boosts their sense of belonging and satisfaction with the Group.
We provide competitive remuneration packages, preferential rates on mortgages and personal loans and various offers to enhance the quality of life for our employees. In addition, we have established staff canteen and breastfeeding rooms in our major office buildings, and implemented a number of staff care initiatives such as distributing red packers during the Lunar New Year and giving gifts for birthdays, weddings and retirements. A retiree association was established to foster communication and connection among our retired employees.
We value employee feedback and provide diverse channels for employees to express their views and make suggestions. We actively listen to their needs and expectations of the Group, proactively study their feedback and respond with practical actions. We conduct an “Employee Opinion Survey” every year and employees can also voice their opinions through the employee hotline, dedicated mailboxes and the “Chief Executive’s Mailbox”.
